What to Do

There are plenty of things to do in Lost River and Wardensville with your furry friends. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Stop by Drifter’s Café for a pup cup and caffeine for humans!

  • Hiking: There are several hiking trails nearby, but our favorite is Lost River State Park. Leash your pup and enjoy a dog-friendly, shady hike. Hike up to the Cranny Crow Overlook, which is a 4-mile out and back hike that showcases two beautiful overlooks. Stop and relax at the first overlook for a doggy water break or continue on to the top for amazing views of five counties in two states!

  • Take your pup for a swim: Trout Pond Recreation Area in the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest is home to West Virginia’s only fresh-water lake. Dogs are welcome at Trout Pond! While dogs are not allowed on the beach area, your canine companion can discover special areas near the boat ramp to doggy paddle!

  • Indulge in pizza with your pup at Lost & Found Pizza & Provisions, which boasts a dog-friendly porch! Located just right outside the Lost River State Park entrance.

  • Spoil your pooch with a Barkcuterie board, a snack board for dogs, at Lost River Farmers Market! Let your pup have its own pawsome snacks, while you sit on the patio and enjoy a wine tasting! Or, grab a cold beer with your pup at the Lost River Trading Post.

Then, head back to relax around the camp fire at Little Pine Cabins at Warden Lake. Our pet friendly cabin in West Virginia is the perfect dog-friendly adventure escape!
